Lifeline

The Lifeline Program provides a discount on home or cell phone service for qualifying low-income consumers to ensure that all Americans have the opportunities and security that phone service brings, including being able to connect to jobs, family and emergency services. Lifeline is part of the Federal and State Universal Service Fund. The Lifeline program is available to eligible low-income consumers in every state, territory, commonwealth, and on Tribal lands

You may receive the Lifeline discount if you receive any of the following:

  • Medicaid
  • SNAP (food stamps)
  • SSI
  • Federal Public Housing Assistance/Section 8
  • Veterans Pension & Survivor’s Benefit
  • Tribal-Specific Programs

What Lifeline provides:

  • For a home (landline) phone ---Lifeline will take up to $12.75 off your monthly phone bill
  • For a cell phone (wireless) ---Lifeline provides a minimum of 500 minutes of use per month
  • For broadband, you may choose from mobile broadband or broadband in your home
  • You can choose either the landline, wireless, or broadband.  (Only one Lifeline-supported service is allowed per household.)
