How to Participate in the PSC Hearing Process

The ORS represents the public interest of South Carolina in utility regulation. If you would like to voice your opinion concerning a given case before the Public Service Commission of South Carolina (PSC), you should take the following steps:

Write a letter to the PSC. If you would like to voice an opinion on any matter or proceeding that will go before the PSC, you may provide your input in writing by including:

  • Your name and address
  • The proceeding or matter to which you are commenting
  • A concise statement of your protest
  • Whether or not you would like to make an appearance at the hearing
  • (NOTE: You will be sent a notice of hearings scheduled only if you indicate in your letter that you wish to appear at the hearing.)

Mail it. You should send your letter, which is called a protest, to:
